I've been living and working in Switzerland for the last 30 years. I came here originally to study Baroque Trumpet with Edward H. Tarr at the renowned Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. I also performed as trumpet soloist in the USA and Europe.
In 1980 I was engaged to teach trumpet at the Musikschule der Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel and started the Wind Band/Big Band program there in 1983 which enjoyed considerable success, including winning competitions in Holland and America. I taught there until 2002. I also was founder, owner and chief engraver of Music of Note as well as serving as a SYSOP on the Apple Computer Expert Forums (ACE) with Compuserve, giving technical support and advice to Compuserve users with Mac/PC related questions/problems.
In 1995, partly as a preparation for my upcoming trombone examinations, I helped found the Basler Trombone Quartett, which is still going strong.
In 1996 I received a teaching diploma for trombone and euponium at the then Konservatorium der Musik-Akademie der Stadt Basel. I also at this time founded the Computer Lab in the Teachers' Education Department at the Musik-Akademie Basel and ran it until July 2000. Up until March 2008 I was Systems Engineer at the College of Industrial Design and Media Art (presently in Aarau, as of 2012 in Basel) where I'd been since November 2001. As of February 2008 I am EDV-Coordinator and ICT-Supporter at the Ethnological Seminar of the University of Zürich. A new year at a new job with new and challenging responsibilities
In December 2005 I completed the coursework and passed the examinations to qualify as Apple Certified Help Desk Specialist and Apple Certified Technical Coordinator. And in Febraury 2006 I passed the examinations to qualify as Apple Certified Systems Administrator.
