Vela is home!

Vela - Welcome in Ettingen!

On Saturday Februay 26, 2008 we picked up Vela from her breeder Barbara Gloor.

Barbara gave us alot of reading material and encouraging words - also warned us, that Vela is no fan of riding in cars. She sure was right. We live 45 minutes away and Vela was not a happy camper in the car, but neither eliminated, nor vomited - I've experienced worse.

Anyway, we got her home and let her get accustomed to her new surroundings. The first couple of nights she longed for Mama, Grandma, brothers and sisters, but the last two she's slept well and almost through till morning. This morning she even let us go back to sleep after letting her out at 5:15 a.m. and we all slept until 7:45.

Using material from Barbara, Feltmann and Fichtlmeier, we've been having a ball playfully teaching Vela to sit, lay down and come. She's been having a good time with us and is even calming down in the car. We take her for a 2-4 minute drive every day to a new field or patch of forest for her to investigate. It gets better and better.

The kitchen is in the "red" zone, as is the living room. There is also a baby gate leading to the front door, so that she doesn't run down the stairs. I do take her downstairs to my office though. She's sleeping on my office floor at my feet while I prepare this.
